Chaarulatha is that rare combination of a horror film with poignant storyline - that of conjoined sisters Chaaru and Latha.
Brought up lovingly by their widowed mother, the sisters see the world in themselves and never dream of seperating, till Love enters their lives. Ravi falls in love with the demure Chaaru that the bold Latha resents.
Things come to a head between the sisters, leading to a situation when the mother is left with no option but to have them seperated surgically.One of them doesn't make it.
Chaaru moves to london to be with ravi and marriage is on the cards.The day their mother gives her consent to the marriage, the ghost of her dead daughter begins to haunt her and she is hospitalized.
Chaaru rushes back to india and Ravi follows. Her sister's ghost vengeful and full of hatred begins to haunt her too. Ravi belives Chaaru is imagining the ghost and tries to find a cure through a psychiatrist friend till he too realizes the presence of the ghost. Apowerful tantric manages to contain the spirit after a fierece encounter and finally things look good for the lovers as they prepare to fly back along with mother for a happy married life.
It is then that Ravi gets a horrific revelation; and we along with him realize that what we believed we knew and saw all along is more than what is seemingly true, ending in a nail biting climax.
